DNA Amplification: Current Technologies and Applications
نویسنده
چکیده
All of the authors are recognized experts in their respective areas. The foreword by Robert Austrian, a pioneer in pneumococcal microbiology, disease description, and vaccine work, provides an interesting summary of the history of major discoveries in the field. While covering many areas of pneumococcal research, the book is not exhaustive; for example, issues specific to pneumococcal disease in developing countries are mentioned only in passing. The book may be most suitable as a tool for new researchers in the pneumococcal field, but it may also be useful for medical students, graduate students, and infectious disease specialists. The level of detail varies among the chapters, but it is adequate to provide an introduction to each of the topics covered, and all chapters are thoroughly referenced. Overall, the editors and writers have done a remarkable job of consolidating the latest information. The Pneumococcus is an authoritative reference in a rapidly changing field.

متن کاملSimple Sequence Repeats Amplification: a Tool to Survey the Genetic Background of Olive Oils
A reliable DNA extraction method for use on extra virgin olive oil based on a commercial kit was defined, and the possibility of using this DNA for fingerprinting the original cultivar was demonstrated. The genetic traceability of single-cultivar virgin olive oil from two cultivars (Carolea and Frantoio) was achieved by identifying the varieties from which they were produced. This involved the ...
متن کاملGenotyping of Candida albicans isolated from animals using 25S ribosomal DNA and ALT repeats polymorphism in repetitive sequence
Background and Purpose: Candida albicans is the most prevalent Candida species isolated from animals. Candidiasis can be systemic in animals or may affect a single organ, such as the mouth, urinary tract, and skin. The aim of the present study was to determine the genetic diversity of C. albicans isolated from different animals and investigate the presence of a relationship between host specifi...
متن کاملAn historical perspective on genomic technologies.
Genomic technologies are best defined as technologies used to manipulate and analyze genomic information. The evolution of this collective power began in earnest with the invention of DNA cloning in the 1970's and most of the technology derives from the last quarter of the 20th century. The historical impact of these technologies is clearly immense. With the genome sequence becoming available f...
متن کاملPCR performance of a thermostable heterodimeric archaeal DNA polymerase
DNA polymerases are versatile tools used in numerous important molecular biological core technologies like the ubiquitous polymerase chain reaction (PCR), cDNA cloning, genome sequencing, and nucleic acid based diagnostics. Taking into account the multiple DNA amplification techniques in use, different DNA polymerases must be optimized for each type of application. One of the current tendencies...
